Thinking about replacing your lawn or reducing your water bill?

Napa residents can see dozens of drought-tolerant plants in person at a free Water-Wise Plant Show on Wednesday, October 14..

Organized through the City of Napa's Water-Wise Landscaping Workshop Series, the show offers a chance to discover what a beautiful, water-efficient landscape can actually look like.

Plants You Can See Before You Plant

Maureen Clark of Bright Garden Designs will introduce a colorful selection of trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, vines, and groundcovers suited to water-wise landscaping.

Dozens of live plants will be displayed, allowing visitors to compare different options and ask questions about what might work in their own yards.

The Napa Valley Chapter of the California Native Plant Society will also be featured, highlighting plants that can help support local wildlife.

Rain Gardens and Real Napa Yard Transformations

Landscape architect Lori Cagwin will share examples of local water-wise landscaping projects, from initial design through installation and establishment.

Some feature rain gardens, landscaped areas designed to capture stormwater runoff and allow it to soak into the ground. Besides reducing runoff, these gardens can conserve drinking water and create habitat for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.

What's New With Cash for Grass?

The evening will also explain significant 2026 enhancements to the City of Napa's Cash for Grass Turf Removal Rebate Program.

If you've been considering replacing your lawn, this is an opportunity to learn about available incentives before starting your project.

We've previously covered Napa's water-wise gardening resources and Cash for Grass rebates throughout Napa Valley.

Wednesday's event brings those ideas together with actual plants, completed landscaping projects, and local experts who can answer questions.

Glad the Native Plant Society will be there. Local plants seem like a smart place to start.

I've been wanting to use less water, but I don't want a yard full of rocks. This sounds promising.

Free and local is hard to beat. I might finally get around to replacing some of our lawn.

The rain garden examples sound useful. We get quite a bit of runoff in our yard.

That sounds interesting. I'd love to see which plants do well in Napa without much water.
