This week, we close out the series with the part that's uniquely Napa Valley: the places where the game and the glass share the same afternoon.
Sip, Serve, Smash at Whitehall Lane Winery
Whitehall Lane, at 1563 St. Helena Highway South in St. Helena, has built an entire experience around this pairing. Their "Sip, Serve, Smash" package starts with an hour of pickleball on the winery's private court, set among the vines with views of the Mayacamas Mountains. From there, guests move into an hour-long tasting of Whitehall Lane's winery-exclusive wines, paired with a curated cheese accompaniment. The whole experience runs $75 per person and needs to be reserved in advance. It's a genuinely different way to spend an afternoon in wine country - work up a sweat first, then sit down and taste the reward.
The Napa Valley Pickleball Classic
Back at Crane Park in St. Helena, the courts we mentioned in Article 1 do more than host casual weekend games. They're also home to the annual Napa Valley Pickleball Classic, a regional tournament that draws competitive players from across the valley. Proceeds from the event benefit UpValley Family Centers, a local nonprofit supporting families throughout northern Napa County.
It's a good example of how the sport has woven itself into the valley's broader culture. Pickleball here isn't just recreation - it's become a way for the wine community to raise money and bring people together at the same time.
