Rotation isn't your typical restaurant.

Housed at Oxbow Public Market in downtown Napa, it's built around a single idea: a new celebrated chef takes over the kitchen every month, bringing their own menu, culinary background, and personal story with them.

The concept comes from Feast It Forward, a lifestyle brand behind several ventures in downtown Napa, including a production studio and an event space. Rotation is billed as the valley's only monthly rotating chef residency, and the lineup so far backs that up. Past residents include Martin Yan, Nyesha Arrington, Lee Anne Wong, and Tristen Epps, a chef from Top Chef whose residency drew fans eager to try his food after watching him on TV.

September's kitchen belongs to Cara Mangini, a San Francisco-based chef, cookbook author, and James Beard Award finalist known for vegetable-forward, produce-driven California cooking. October brings Ranjan Dey, focused on royal Indian and spice-driven regional cuisine.

Anchoring the kitchen through every rotation is Executive Chef Jeff Mosher, who's spent more than 20 years cooking in Napa Valley. Mosher works alongside each incoming chef and keeps the food grounded in the region's seasonal ingredients, cooked over Rotation's open hearth.

Beyond the food, Rotation builds full evenings around each chef's residency, pairing meals with live performances, ticketed dinners, and film nights tied to that chef's cultural background. There's also a membership option, the Rotation Reserve Card, offering early reservation access and invitations to exclusive events with visiting chefs.

The pairing of film nights with the chefs’ cultural background is such a neat idea. Makes dining more immersive.

Nice to see Napa getting this creative with food. More variety for locals instead of the usual tourist spots.

Wish there was more info about the membership card. Early access sounds nice but how much does it cost? Anyone know?

clare_jenkinsI heard the card isn’t too expensive, maybe around $100 for the year? Worth it if you like exclusive events.

I went last month during Tristen Epps’ residency. The spices were perfectly balanced and the open hearth cooking made a big difference.

Luis G.Totally agree, Luis. The open hearth really adds a unique flavor that you don’t get everywhere.

The monthly chef switch sounds exhausting for the kitchen staff. Hope they get good support and keep the quality high.

Seeing names like Martin Yan and a Top Chef contestant? This place just went on my must-visit list for Napa.

Is it pricey? Would love to try some of the vegetable-forward dishes by Cara Mangini but I'm on a budget.

Samantha K.I’ve been there and found some dishes reasonable. The veggie options are great and worth trying even if you’re watching your budget.

Been to Oxbow Public Market a few times but hadn't noticed Rotation. Sounds like a cool concept, especially with live performances too.

Love the idea of a rotating chef! Keeps things fresh and fun. Can't wait to see what Ranjan Dey brings to the table next month.

Jill M.Me too, Jill! It’s such a fun way to experience different cuisines without leaving Napa.
