This Might Be Napa’s Best Music Weekend of the Summer |
Morris Day & The Time, Sheila E., Raphael Saadiq and Jason Bonham headline three nights under the Napa Valley sky. |

You don’t have to leave the valley to find a seriously good concert this weekend.
Blue Note Napa is bringing four big-name performers to its outdoor Summer Sessions stage at The Meritage, with three very different shows from Friday through Sunday. Whether your taste runs toward funk, soul or classic rock, there’s a night that fits.
Friday, August 21: Morris Day & The Time + Sheila E.
If you want the party night, Friday is probably it. Morris Day & The Time share the bill with Sheila E. for an evening packed with funk, percussion and songs built to get people on their feet.
Both acts have decades of hits and unmistakable ties to the Minneapolis sound, making this one of those bills that feels a little bigger than your average Friday night in Napa.
Saturday, August 22: Raphael Saadiq
Saturday shifts into soul and R&B with Raphael Saadiq. The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer has built a career that stretches from his early days with Tony! Toni! Toné! through an acclaimed solo career and work with some of the biggest names in contemporary music. If Friday is the dance party, Saturday is the smoothest night of the weekend.
Sunday, August 23: Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening
Sunday turns up the guitars.
Jason Bonham, son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, brings his Led Zeppelin Evening to Napa for a full night devoted to one of rock’s most enduring catalogs.
For local classic-rock fans, it’s a chance to hear those songs performed live without making the trek to San Francisco or another major concert market.
So, which night is yours?
Friday brings the funk. Saturday brings the soul. Sunday brings the rock.
And for the truly ambitious, there’s nothing stopping you from making it a three-night run.
All three concerts begin at 7 p.m. at Blue Note Napa Summer Sessions at The Meritage Resort & Spa.
Three nights, three completely different sounds—and no trip out of the valley required. For Napa Valley residents, it’s a rare chance to catch some very recognizable names outdoors, practically in our own backyard. |

Crossing my fingers for nice weather. Outdoor concerts can be a gamble.
Denise HarmsSame here! Summer evenings can be perfect, but you never know with Napa weather. I’m hoping for a nice breeze and no fog.
Blue Note always books great acts. Napa’s music scene is stepping up!
Why not bundle tickets for the whole weekend? Missed opportunity!
Would go, but wish it started a little earlier than 7! Kids have school on Monday.
Love that they picked such different styles for each night. Something for everyone.
Vicente L.Right? Makes it tough to pick. I wish they did this kind of variety more often around here.
Hope it’s not too crowded at The Meritage. Anyone know what parking is like?
Shawna WuParking can get pretty tight, especially if you don’t get there early. Sometimes they open up overflow lots at the resort, but it’s good to plan ahead.
Not usually a rock guy but Led Zeppelin tunes outside? Yes please.
Greg HallI’m with you! There’s something special about hearing those classics outside. Let’s hope the sound system does them justice.
Never heard of Raphael Saadiq… is it upbeat?
Ellen ParksSome of his stuff is chill but he’s got a lot of groovy, upbeat tracks too. Super soulful. I think you’ll be surprised!
I saw Sheila E. Once in the 90s and she was amazing! If she’s half as good now we’re in for a treat.
Marcus J.That’s awesome! I’ve only seen videos, never live, but she still has that energy. Can’t wait to see her percussion solos in person.
Wish they’d bring in more country acts too, but this lineup still sounds fun.
Sooo grateful I don’t have to drive to Berkeley for good music anymore.
How much are tickets for all three nights? Might do it all!
kim_87I checked earlier and each show had different prices, but I think there was a bundle deal if you got all three. Might be worth calling the box office to ask!
Already got tickets for Jason Bonham! Classic rock night is THE night.
Brenda M.Nice! I can’t wait. These shows don’t come to Napa often, so I’m taking full advantage too.
Raphael Saadiq is the one for me. Love his voice.
Morris Day & The Time always bring the funk, can’t wait for Friday!
Sheila E. In Napa? That’s a dream!
